St. Mary Academy-Bay View, grades Pre-K through 12, is seeking an EducationTechnology Specialist for the 2023-2024 school year. Bay View is recognized for itscommitment to STEAM programming for girls and young women. The candidate isresponsible for growing the school’s efforts for experiential, challenging, creative, andproject-based learning integrating technology. The person hired for this job will collaboratewith teachers across grade levels to enhance the use of technology and form communitypartnerships that bring opportunities for innovation and application of STEAM. Thecandidate will teach technology literacy and computer science in the Lower School. Candidates must be committed to an all-girls, Mercy Education.
Responsibilities:
Teach Computer Science classes in grades PK through 5 on computer basics andprocedures, coding, robotics, online research skills, and creativity with tech tools.
Work with faculty throughout the Academy to champion project-based learningexperiences, including interdisciplinary design challenges
Create and facilitate school-based, high-quality professional learning, working withteachers throughout the Academy to refine their knowledge and skills in usingtechnology to support and enhance teaching and learning
Act as a technical mentor and guide to faculty in developing and maintaining newtechnology-based platforms and programs to enhance instruction
Advise teachers and families on digital citizenship and emerging technology trends
Participate in ongoing professional development on emerging technologies,curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to instructional technology
The position also involves serving as an advisor and providing faculty support to a club or activity.
Successful candidates will possess the following attributes:
Experience with tools such as Code.org's CS Fundamentals curriculum, Scratchsoftware, Edison, and KIBO robots.
Strong understanding of child development, including the social, emotional, andintellectual domains
Creative, imaginative, and growth mindset in teaching, coaching, and curricular design
Supports Mercy values and Mercy Critical Concerns
An orientation to progressive education philosophy and teaching practices
Demonstrates cultural competency and skills in working with and learning from peoplewith diverse backgrounds and experiences
Approaches work with energy, kindness, maturity, curiosity, flexibility, and a sense ofhumor

Enjoys a commitment that extends beyond the classroom, including contributions tothe larger school community
Strong work ethic and a caring temperament
BA/BS degree in computer science or related education, Master’s degree preferred
