The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is seeking a Statistician-I to join its team. The position is part of an interdisciplinary research program focused on the role of neighborhoods in brain development, cognition, and emotion across adolescence; vulnerability to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the factors that may protect against adversity and foster resilience. The position involves management and analysis of longitudinal data from a large nationwide sample via the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. The statistician will lead dataset management, conduct analyses, and interpret and communicate findings, with specific expertise needed in longitudinal multi-level modeling of both continuous and categorical outcomes over time (i.e. longitudinal), large datasets (epidemiology and/or big data experience), and/or other advanced analytic methods.
Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and the investigator team, specific accountabilities of the position include: (1) Data management and quality control for data and coding/analyses, including recommendations/guidance for all team members, for a large, multidimensional longitudinal dataset; (2) Primary responsibility to lead statistical modeling and analyses to meet study aims, using longitudinal mixed-effects modeling and other advanced analytic methods; (3) Assist in interpretation of statistical results of primary analyses and analyses of other team members; (4) Preparation tables, graphs, and other mechanisms for summarizing and communicating results, and documentation of all steps in data management and analysis; (5) Assist in preparation and writing of empirical papers for publication, presentations, and technical reports; (6) May provide guidance and oversight on statistical methodology, data management and quality control, etc, to other members of the study team; (7) Stay informed of developments and relevant innovations in the field as applicable to the study aims and analytic methods; (8) Other related duties as assigned or requested.
MS in statistics/biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field is required, with doctoral degree preferred. Strong computational and quantitative background and prior experience â skilled in programming, coding and statistical analyses using R and other programs such as SAS, Mplus, etc. Statistical knowledge of linear mixed effects (LME), change-on-change/fixed effect regression, structural equation modeling, and general additive modeling (GAM) highly desired as well as advanced modeling techniques for large, longitudinal datasets. Detail-oriented, fluent in English, and possess excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and strong interpersonal skills to work well in teams. Some training and expertise in neuroscience, child development, and social determinants of health is desired.

The annual base salary range for this position is $83,840.24 - $102,250.00.
