The Assistant Dean for Administration in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) supports the Office of the Dean in performing accounting and managerial functions associated with the administration of CAES budgets, administrative policies and processes as well as managing the 1890 Facilities Grant Program. The Assistant Dean for Administration will be responsible for providing fast, efficient customer service for faculty and staff with a focus on solving problems and supporting projects and departments while maintaining compliance with college, university, state and federal regulations.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The CAES is the largest college of Agriculture among the 1890 Land-grant universities and as such is the national top producer of African Americans with degrees in Agriculture. CAES offers 9 BS degrees, 3 MS degrees and 1 PhD and educates over 1100 students. BS degrees include: Agricultural and Environmental Systems, Agricultural Education, Animal Science, Biological Engineering, Child Development and Family Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences, Food and Nutritional Sciences, Laboratory Animal Science and Landscape Architecture. MS programs include: Agricultural Education, Agricultural and Environmental Systems and Food and Nutritional Sciences. In Spring 2022, the CAES will launch a PhD in Agriculture and Environmental Sciences with 5 specialization tracks covering the college's academic disciplines. Through its Agricultural Research and Cooperative Extension Programs, CAES conducts research on issues of national importance and provide research-based extension education and outreach services to citizens, communities, and industry partners across the state of North Carolina.

Requirements:
A Masters of Business Administration or a Masters degree in a discipline represented in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science with at least three (3) years of experience working with large budgets, and faculty and staff, is required. Possess a combination of strong business credentials, skills, experience and understanding of state mandates and governance structure.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and with diverse groups.
Ability to motivate, lead and manage people
Strong communications skills including written and verbal communications
Experience in formulation of efficient, effective processes
Possess significant knowledge of and experience with budgets, accounting, and contracts and grants
Preferred:
Master degree with 5-8 years of demonstrated successful experience in a Land Grant institution, involving significant responsibility for managing state-appropriated funds, federal capacity funds appropriated under Smith Lever/1890 Extension, Evans-Allen/Hatch, McIntire-Stennis and all other competitive federal funds. Experience managing the 1890 facilities funds.
