Primary responsibilities for this position include managing the various activities associated with the NICHD funded research project, Grandi Byen: supporting child growth and development through integrated, responsive parenting, nutrition and hygiene. Such activities may include supervision of staff and students; management of day-to-day project activities; oversight of IRB processes; liaison with Haitian research team; assisting with financial reporting; development of reports and other deliverables; communication and dissemination of research products; and grant writing.
International travel is a required component of this position. This position will travel to Haiti periodically throughout the year.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Grandi Byen Management (in collaboration with Drs. Kohl and Iannotti):
Manage, develop, and coordinate all project activities, including managing IRB processes, coordinating lab activities, and serving as the primary contact for external partners.
Regularly communicate with co-investigators and research partners.
Organize weekly meetings with the internal team to discuss study logistics and progress.
Prepare regular progress reports and final reports for funding agency.
Manage budgetary expenditures in cooperation with financial manager, including procurement of equipment and supplies.
Develop and implement project timelines.
Other research-related activities (in collaboration with Drs. Kohl and Iannotti):
Develop surveys, protocols, and data collection systems.
Manage and analyze data (quantitative & qualitative).
Prepare manuscripts for publication.
Communicate and disseminate project findings: prepare summaries, present at scientific conferences.
Supervise project staff:
Hire, onboard, and support the supervision of research assistants and practicum students.
Assist in grant development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ph.D. in nutrition, child development, public health, international development, social work, social sciences, or public policy.
Intermediate level French or Haitian Creole is strongly preferred.
Experience with nutrition, child development, infectious disease, public health or social work research.
Understanding and knowledge of public health terminology.
Experience with planning and organization of multi-day events and international travel.
Experience in health care, public health, social work, customer service or related field.
Experience working in programmatic research conducted in international settings, particularly low-resource settings.
Experience with data management and collection systems, particularly REDCap.
Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing data (qualitative/quantitative).
Experience in other research activities (literature reviews, manuscript development, IRB processes).
Demonstrated superior writing and editing skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, public affairs, and health and news organizations.
Strong analytic skills and the ability to think strategically and programmatically.
Ability to represent the project effectively with scholars, students, and community groups.
Ability to work independently and exercise outstanding judgment.
Ability to work productively in a high-pressure environment and to maintain visibly high levels of morale in difficult circumstances.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a complex organizational environment.
Ability to manage the projects budget and resources.
Bachelorâ™s degree and two years of job related experience, orÂ masterâ™s degree.
$40,100.00 - $72,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
