The Center for Multimodal Imaging and Genetics (CMIG) is a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, programmers, and support staff that plays a leading role in several national and multinational initiatives involving collection and analysis of imaging, genetic, and behavioral data from healthy controls and patient populations.
CMIG hosts the Data Analysis and Informatics Center (DAIC) of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study, an ongoing, NIH-funded study to follow ~12,000 children with longitudinal neuroanatomical, functional imaging and behavioral assessments across 21 sites within the US. The major goals of the study are to provide a publicly available data resource to examine the relationships between environmental influences -- including substance use -- and adolescent brain and cognitive development.
The Center for Translational Imaging for Precision Medicine (CTIPM) at the University of California San Diego, which includes three state of the art imaging facilities, is dedicated to clinical and translational research. The ACR-accredited Center was established in 2015 to make world-class breakthroughs in magnetic resonance physics directly available to physicians, patients, and the research community. CTIPM offers the latest technology, scanning techniques and analysis available in MR imaging.
Under general supervision, the incumbent will independently be responsible for assuring and analyzing imaging data integrity and protocol compliance for both phantom and human MRI data acquired for several large multi-site studies, including the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study and the HEALthy Brain and Child Development study. The incumbent be responsible for maintaining existing fBIRN-style phantom data processing pipelines (MATLAB) and developing additional functionality, as required. This position requires strong quantitative, analytical and computing skills on desktop and server-based processing systems. The incumbent will be required to adapt to evolving requirements, to maintain clear documentation of all methods, and to work closely with investigators to continuously improve data processing and tracking procedures.
In addition to the image processing tasks above, the incumbent will help support the CTIPM MRI Facility, which includes administration of active research projects, training investigators to use the MRI scanner in accordance with safety regulations, maintaining and troubleshooting the scanner as needed, maintaining the current MRI calendar scheduling system, and being first point of contact for the routine functioning of the facility. Participation in the collection of structural and functional MRI data is required. The incumbent will contribute to scientific manuscripts and publications and perform information searches on the internet and through library resources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated theoretical knowledge of work in a quantitative field (such as graduation from college with major work in engineering, physical science, neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, computer science) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective interpersonal skills to successfully interact, including faculty members from various University departments, staff from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and clients from outside the University.
Excellence in written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in proof reading and editing. Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Good judgment and decision-making; problem-identification and resolution; identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance through application configuration and programming techniques.
