This Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:
- Working as a Child Life Specialist for Martha Eliot/Early Intervention Program for ages 0-3.
- Participating in therapeutic activities and programs primarily on home visits, to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences.
- Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
- Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns.
- Working primarily on home visits, traveling to meet families in diverse communities (Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, etc.); and working one day per week at Boston Children's main campus.
To qualify, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a focus on child development and ages 0-3.
- Must have 600 Child Life internship hours under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
- Comfort with family-centered work and experience with infants and toddlers with special needs is necessary.
- Ability to travel to patient homes.
- General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
- Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
- Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire for all new hires.
