The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 300 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department’s highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department’s robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. Other areas of excellence include Addictions, Autism, High Risk Youth, Neurosciences, and Trauma, and the Department is developing innovative new programs in Technology and Mental Health, Global Mental Health, Maternal and Child Mental Health, and Targeted Intervention Development.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a Continuing Education Coordinator.
This position involves coordination of a variety of training/coaching contracts for a program focused on integrated mental health services research and implementation as well as delivery of coaching support to healthcare organizations. Most of the projects are based on the Collaborative Care Model (uwaims.org) of behavioral health integration and promote evidence-based treatment for common mental health problems, including depression, anxiety and substance use disorders, in diverse primary care settings.
Employee will be expected to use independent judgment in working with external contracting organizations, partner organizations and consultants to coordinate their contributions and participation in training/coaching activities. Employee will rely on previous experience in program and project management to independently create project work plans, make independent decisions to implement project work plans and address challenges. Employee will participate in the development and deployment of new methods to provide training and coaching for evidence-based integrated mental health treatment programs.
This position is responsible for coordinating training programs that are highly visible to healthcare organizations, policy-makers and healthcare providers throughout the United States and abroad and his/her interactions will reflect on the UW to this large group of people. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementing programs that encourage healthcare organizations and providers to use evidence based methods in their practice. His/her success will determine future training contract funding in this area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior Practice Coach: •Lead practice site implementation meetings/coaching calls •Lead webinars and trainings on pre-launch topics related to vision, workflows, financing, sustainment and program/caseload metrics •Facilitate development of a site’s clinical and operational workflows and sustainment plan •Provide ongoing coaching to implementation teams at sites on operational issues with clinic and system leadership and on financing and billing •Develop new training curriculum and materials on practice coaching topics with support of training resource coordinator, other clinical trainers as well as project team •Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partnering organizations.
Coordination Activities: •Manage training and coaching contracts with partner organizations including deliverable tracking. Create budget and deliverables reports for funding agencies as required. •Identify staffing/team for the project and lead internal and external project planning meetings. •Oversee project implementation and training team, delegate appropriate responsibilities to all team members, and coach and provide feedback to project support staff. •Maintain positive and productive partnerships with clinical trainers, project staff, and faculty •Collaborate with project support staff to finalize training materials and coordinate training logistics, including needed technical assistance/support, pre-webinar sound checks etc. •Facilitate with the implementation site(s)/clinic(s) access to AIMS Center registry tools, PST training (if applicable) and training website (if applicable) •Oversee and facilitate coordination of trainings and develop training timeline and plan with project team and external partner(s). •Facilitate development of new training curriculum and materials, as needed, with support of Training Resource Coordinator and communicate with Training Resource Coordinator revisions to resources.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Master's degree in Social work, public health, health administration •Minimum 2 years experience as a program manager or similar position in implementing and managing integrated behavioral health programs in primary care settings. •Strong organizational skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. •Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PubMed and Internet. •Ability to work independently with limited supervision, represent the University in a variety of settings and travel occasionally. •Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple deadlines
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
•Experience implementing Collaborative Care. Experience developing healthcare or behavioral health delivery programs, quality improvement, and sustainability strategies for behavioral health programs in federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, commercial health systems, or academic medical centers. Experience coordinating events (e.g. conferences and multiple day trainings). Experience developing contract scope of work, deliverable tracking, and deliverable reporting.
