The Children’s School seeks an experienced full-time Director of Curriculum to start immediately.
The Director of Curriculum is the curricular leader of the faculty, coaching teachers in creating immersive, inquiry-based learning experiences, supporting innovative and strategic pedagogical approaches to implement the curriculum, and overseeing the development, implementation, documentation and alignment of curriculum across the grades. The Children’s School views curriculum as constantly evolving in response to new learning, and this position is responsible for initiating, motivating, and mobilizing that curriculum evolution to ensure that how and what teachers teach are rooted in the School’s mission, vision, and values, and supports continuity of the academic program.
Qualifications: A Master’s degree preferred or Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education or educational administration, or a related field. A minimum of 5-7 years of teaching and a strong preference for administrative experience at the elementary/middle school level. Ideal candidates have demonstrated leadership experience in leading change initiatives; in supervising, coaching and collaborating with adult learners; and with developing and implementing programs.
Candidates should have a solid understanding of adult learning, child development, progressive philosophy, and creative pedagogy. Candidates should also have demonstrated experience in, and enthusiasm for, 21st century education, and hands-on project-based learning.
Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, relate quickly to others, and should demonstrate flexibility and a preference for working within a highly collaborative team structure. Candidates should be skilled in facilitating and documenting group processes, have strong communication skills in speaking and writing, possess excellent organizational skills in developing and structuring documents, and then be able to manage and follow through with complex long-term projects. Candidates should be a process-driven and detailed thinker and have the ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
