Reports to:Head of Early Childhood & Lower School
Start Date:August 3, 2022
Work Schedule:Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm; additional time as needed for after-school meetings and professional development.
Teach daily 3rd-grade math classes
Utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials that reflect an understanding of various learning styles
Create lesson plans based on sound, research-based methods of instruction
Develop and/or utilize supplemental materials that enhance and maintain curricular alignment to the Math in Focus curriculum
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of third grade students
Conduct an ongoing formal and informal assessment of student achievement
Implement classroom-management techniques that align with the school’s culture
Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, phone calls, emails, texts, and conferences
Collaborate closely with colleagues, including those on the same grade-level team and other math teachers throughout the school
Integrate technology into the curriculum to strengthen the teaching/learning process
Attend annual grade-level class trips
Participate in school events and community service projects
Actively engage in a robust assortment of faculty professional development opportunities offered to AOS teachers
Fulfill other duties as requested
Actions and values that align with the AOS Mission
Bachelor’s degree in education or mathematics; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of three years of math teaching experience; Lower school experience preferred
Experience using multiple pedagogical strategies to build and assess student skills and knowledge
Knowledge of child development
Knowledge of research-based practices for effective instruction
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of technology (We are a Google school.)
Demonstrated knowledge of and love for working with third graders with great energy, playfulness, and understanding
