Capitol Hill Day School seeks a full-time temporary middle school math teacher for grades seven and eight. This is an interim position, beginning in December and running through March, resulting from a parental leave vacancy.

The middle school math program is currently designed as a four-year sequence that thoughtfully and systematically helps students consolidate and deepen their learning of elementary math concepts while developing their understanding of algebraic principles. Emphasis is placed on cooperative learning activities, inquiry based lessons, and problem solving. The main content associated with this position is Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry. Most students complete Algebra 1 by the end of their 8th Grade year, while a small group of students has the opportunity to accelerate and take Algebra 1 in 7th Grade and Geometry in 8th Grade. In addition to classroom teaching, the position encompasses responsibilities including but not limited to homeroom teaching and student advising.
