Education & Research Specialist - Eliot Pearson Children's School - (21001768)
This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week.
The Eliot-Pearson Children's School is the laboratory-demonstration school affiliated with the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University. The school serves as a model and demonstration facility, providing a training and observation site for new and experienced teachers and a research facility for faculty and supervised students. The children's school enrolls approximately 80 children. It has preschool and kindergarten to second grade classes.
The Education & Research Specialist will work closely with the Director and provide mentoring/support for teachers on curriculum, observation and documentation, and professional development. She/he will also build relationships with educators, teaching staff, and families to foster and maximize children's learning, teachers' ongoing growth and family connections.
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
Required education: Masters Degree
Required computer/technical skills: Proficient in MS Word and Excel, and experience using databases
Years of related experience required: MA with 10+ years of experience of in-depth knowledge and work experience with curriculum development, Documentation of children's learning and teaching approaches
Experience in Early childhood Education, Curriculum Development, and Documentation and Assessment of Young Children
Collaborative work and learning experience with team teachers on Documentation; and Making Learning Visible
Experience working in higher education setting and collaborating with academic faculty
Experience in Mentoring and Peer-Coaching
Excellent organizational, time management, multi-tasking, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to do detailed work with accuracy in a busy environment; handle confidential materials; set priorities; ask for help and know when to defer decisions; work independently under pressure; be flexible, adapt, creative and resourceful;
Must be flexible, open to different perspectives/approaches to teaching/learning, and embrace change
Previous experience working in diverse settings (children, educators and families), early childhood and teacher research; Facility in a language other than English is desirable.
Knowledge of MA formal assessment tools (Work Sampling, PAS).
