Join a dedicated team of educators on a 67-acre campus as an After-School Program Teacher at Catlin Gabel School. We are looking for dynamic individuals who have experience working with children in both educational and informal settings. Our program encourages the innate capacities of each child through exploration of the natural world, creative play, cooperative games, and storytelling. This teacher is responsible for leading activities and supervising students in pre-school up to the 5th grade.
Some Duties May Include:
Lead program curriculum and activities that are appropriate to the age, interest, and developmental level of children in the cohort
Lead daily outdoor activities that focus on the environment and natural world
Assist classroom teaching assistants, supervising students and leading activities centered on community and wellness
Facilitate the upkeep of materials in a classroom environment and request supplies when needed
Provide careful and concentrated supervision of children to ensure safety and learning
Communicate effectively with parents regarding children and the program
This type of role will spend time in the after school program classroom spaces, supervise students on the playground and outdoor trails on campus, communicate on the phone or radio with ASP staff, interact with students and their families, and maintain the classroom environment. Occasionally there will be field trips.

AA in education or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
Experience designing and implementing activities for children (Preschool-5th grade) in childcare and/or educational settings
Enrollment in Oregon Office of Child Care’s Central Background Registry
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Food Handlers certificate and current CPR and First Aid certification
BA/BS or equivalent four-year degree in education

Knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for children and knowledge of child development
Ability to create positive, professional relationships with parents, caregivers, and colleagues
Excellent conflict management skills
Cultural competency, ability to interact with a diverse array of people and foster inclusivity
Ability to work as a team member: The ability to problem-solve, compromise, collaborate, be flexible, and take direction when necessary
Computer Skills: Proficient with Word, Outlook, and Google Drive
