Stevens Cooperative School is seeking a full-time 2nd grade teacher for its Hoboken campus. We seek an experienced teacher with a successful track record to teach early elementary students. We are looking for candidates who bring creativity, excellent relationship skills, and a collaborative approach to their craft. The Hoboken 2nd grade teacher will also exhibit a passion for fostering a strong culture of student engagement in learning, in close alignment with our mission. Our faculty models a spirit of collaboration and inquiry to inspire students to “explore, question and communicate in ways that will shape the future.”Candidates will be culturally competent with effective organizational and classroom management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary in order to develop interpersonal relationships with faculty, parents, and students.
We are looking for a professional who is energetic, has a positive attitude, and is a self-starter. Working collaboratively with others in a small community and instilling confidence in the program with parents is required.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development in the early years (6- 8 years age band).
Show ability to motivate and stimulate children's learning abilities through a range of exploratory and inquiry-based experiences.
Provide a secure environment to learn, care forand support the developmental needs of each child - using differentiation to assist the development of a child's personal, social and language abilities, speech and communication, mathematical and creative development.
Ability to cultivate and maintain an inclusive classroom culture that values all voices and appreciates various perspectives
Show confidence in planning and teaching the language arts, math, social studies and science scope and sequence with a focus on purpose and relevance
Proficient with using technology (Google Suite and use of Smart Panels and Chromebooks)
Assess and maintain written records of individual student development, which includes competency checklist, narrative comments on reports and leading parent conferences
Work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies with flexibility and resourcefulness
Interact effectively and sensitively with a diverse population of students, faculty and parent/caregiver body
Skilled writer and communicator with a focus on timely communications with families
