Cambridge Friends School, a pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade Quaker School located in Cambridge, Massachusetts is seeking a Pre-K/Kindergarten classroom co-teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. A successful candidate will be knowledgeable in developmentally and grade-appropriate content and pedagogy, and a collaborative educator. Candidates should be committed to culturally responsive teaching that makes meaningful connections between students’ identities and life experiences and their learning and be invested in the School’s ongoing anti-bias efforts. A successful candidate will carry out all responsibilities necessary to teach in our small, inclusive school, and will participate richly and fully in the life of the School. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s in Education or a related field (Masters preferred), and experience teaching Lower School-aged students.
Experienced in teaching in an early childhood classroom with specific experience teaching Pre-K/Kindergarten
Familiar with a progressive approach to early childhood education; practical experience using that model in a classroom and knowledge of child development and its relationship to curriculum creation
Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of four- to- six year-olds
Committed to collaborating and working as part of a co-teaching team and a larger early childhood team
Able to communicate effectively with parents, both in person and in writing
Experienced or trained in the use of specific curricular programs preferred: Wilson’s Fundations® and TERC: Investigations Math Program
Familiar with Responsive Classroom practices
In possession of strong writing skills, physical stamina, patience, and integrity
