Rippowam Cisqua School, a PreKindergarten through Grade 9 independent country day school in Westchester County, New York, seeks a Math Specialist to direct and enhance all aspects of the school’s mathematics program. The successful candidate will ensure effective math instruction and a rigorous experience for all students.
The Math Specialist will:
Be an expert in current research related to elementary and middle school math instruction particularly as related to child development and math teaching strategies.
Be responsible for advancing the faculty’s capacity to differentiate instructional strategies and to advance each teacher’s ability to support all students.
Be eager to motivate teachers to partake in worthwhile professional development.
Be comfortable speaking to parents and community members both formally and informally on topics of curriculum implementation and assessment.
Be eager to work in partnership with the Curriculum Coordinator, the Assistant Head of School, and the faculty to ensure consistency and understanding of expectations between the Lower and Upper School math programs.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Math or related field (master’s degree preferred) and be able to teach across grade levels including specific grade level sections of middle school math.
Be extremely adept at methods for using technology to enhance instruction.
Be dynamic, have a great sense of humor, and find joy in working with children.
Be willing to contribute meaningfully to our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work and to be open to learning from others.
