The Early Childhood Program is a ministry of Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, and as such is an integrated part of the church. An appointed Board of Directors (ECP Board) provides governance and oversight of the ECP program.
The mission of the program is to:
promote a Christian education which will emphasize God’s love, and love of others,
provide adult affirmation and encouragement so that every child will feel proud of what they do and be successful each day,
provide a nurturing environment in which a developmentally appropriate curriculum will provide for physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth through an integrated approach,
prepare an environment where children will learn through active exploration of materials and through interactions with other children and adults,
provide a program where success is experienced, and love of learning is nurtured and enhanced.
This position is responsible for managing the full and efficient daily operation of the Early Childhood Program (ECP) in accordance with the ECP mission statement. This includes compliance with all local and state licensing standards and regulations; staff leadership, hiring, and management; budget development and oversight; program administration; fostering strong parent and community relations; marketing and communication; recruitment and enrollment; purchasing of supplies and equipment; and actively striving to provide an exemplary and innovative program using developmentally appropriate curriculum for all children in a nurturing Christian environment.
The Director creates the climate life of the program, always leads by example and fosters the religious centeredness which is inherent in the Program’s mission. The Director will build upon ECP’s well-respected heritage and reputation as a nurturing, collaborative community that fosters personal growth and a love of learning among the staff, children, and families.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to the Lead Pastor/Head of Staff
Supervises the following:
ECP Assistant Director
ECP Teachers, Assistants and substitutes
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides visionary leadership for the Early Childhood Program in accordance with the vision and mission of Clear Lake Presbyterian Church
Supervises direct reports, including administration of various personnel functions and performance reviews
Supervises the daily operation of the school
Actively recruits students
Actively promotes the Program to the congregation and community
Oversees effective marketing and communication
Develops meaningful relationships with families, leading with special focus and intentionality on parents
Serves as an ex-officio member of the ECP Board
Ensures adherence to child protection procedures and licensing standards
Ensures environment and curriculum are developmentally appropriate
Ensures environment, building and playground are maintained in compliance with state licensing standards
Develops and oversees annual budget
Meets regularly with supervisor
Maintains healthy relationship with ECP Board; attends ECP Board meetings
Submits monthly reports to session; outlining activities, enrollment and items of interest; attends session meetings
Maintains effective relationship between ECP and other church staff
Certification as Director through the Texas Department of Health and Human Resources Commission Childcare Licensing Division
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field (Master’s degree is preferred)
Three to five years classroom teaching experience
At least one year of supervisory or program administration experience
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Proven leadership, managerial and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to relate sensitively to children, parents, and staff
Provide resourcefulness, adaptability and imagination to the Early Childhood Program
Commitment to the spiritual formation of children
Professed faith in Jesus Christ and a member of a local church congregation
Proficient in financial management skills, including budget
Proficient in technology: Social Media, Microsoft, Excel, Remind App
