Summary

The Mount Vernon School is seeking a Director of Preschool for the 2021-2022 school year. The MV Preschool embraces the mission of our school, is accredited by NAEYC, utilizes the Project Approach alongside rich foundational skills, and is committed to a low child to teacher ratios. We believe that children learn best in a play-based environment, where teachers shape the activities and environment to best serve each child's individual needs. We also invest heavily in teacher learning and growth by providing robust opportunities for training.

Role & Responsibilities 

• Establish a safe, healthy, and welcoming preschool setting and oversee programs and activities to engage and educate young children
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Preschool to include overall responsibility of the Preschool budget; Meet and exceed financial goals and objectives
• Stay informed on current research on neuroscience, child development, education, and other schools that are implementing innovative practices and programs
• Plan and facilitate professional learning experiences for teachers 
• Ensure full compliance with MV policies and standards, as well as federal and state regulations including licensing and health and safety protocols
• Observe and evaluate teachers to include goal setting, professional growth plans, and year-end reviews
• Coordinate with the Head of Lower Campus regarding faculty retention and recruitment
• Communicate and collaborate with current families and potential new families for strong retention and growth of the School
• Continue to create and maintain an innovative and collaborative learning environment
• Contribute to School life beyond the classroom including Family Nights, arts and athletic events, and graduation
