Technical Assistance Specialist – Dropout Prevention and School Completion The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Technical Assistance Specialist – Dropout Prevention and School Completion to work in the College of Education’s Special Education and Child Development unit. The mission of the Department of Special Education and Child Development is to prepare highly effective and ethical professionals who have a positive impact on children, youth, families, community, and schools and who are successful in urban and other diverse settings. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in a related field, and five years of experience providing services to stakeholders engaged in dropout prevention/ school completion/ graduation efforts in state or local agencies. Essential Job Duties: This Technical Assistance (TA) Specialist position for the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition: the Collaborative (NTACT:C) will be primarily responsible for technical assistance with selected State Education Agencies and their local education agency and vocational rehabilitation partners and other stakeholders to promote the quality provision of effective dropout prevention and school completion practices and policies for students and youth with disabilities. The TA specialist will partner with other NTACT:C staff at UNC Charlotte and its partner universities in this work with states across the nation. The TA specialist will also engage in the development of resources, relevant to school completion. Part of the TA Specialist’s position will also focus on states’ efforts to build local collaborative capacity across special education, general education – including career and technical education, school improvement teams, and other internal and external stakeholders to improve student outcomes. Serving as a liaison between NTACT:C and state agency personnel and their partners, focused on technical assistance services to improve school completion by students and youth with disabilities. The TA specialist will be required use web/ video communication (and travel when appropriate) to advise, plan, and collaborate with state personnel, NTACT:C colleagues, and other TA providers.
