Westtown School is searching for a Lower School Assistant Teacher to join our faculty for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Our Lower School serves students in Pre-K through 5th grade. Applications are invited from qualified candidates with experience and interest in working with Lower School students.
Supporting young students’ social-emotional and identity development
Teaching developmentally appropriate academics in the areas of literacy, math, and thematic studies with a culturally responsive and inclusive lens
Implementing curriculum for remote/distance learning and in-person classrooms
Collaboration with classroom and special area faculty
Divisional community duties (e.g. arrival, recess, dismissal)
BA or BS degree in Education or related field; new educators are encouraged to apply
Demonstrated passion and joy for working with Lower School students
Commitment to teaching with a lens toward child development, social-emotional learning, differentiated instruction, and inquiry- and project-based teaching
Experience and proficiency using technology to support instruction and essential job responsibilities
Strong collaboration and communication skills
A deep commitment to enhancing an inclusive school community, for children and adults, based on cultural competence, commitment to social justice, and respect for all voices
Strong affinity for the mission of Westtown School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school’s Quaker values
