The UC Davis Environmental Health Sciences Center (EHSC) is headquartered within the Department of Public Health Sciences, with members in six different Schools and Colleges including the School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, College of Engineering and a few others. Numerous epidemiologic investigations launched by faculty in the Department and/or the EHSC are examining the role of environmental factors in health or development. Recently, studies of populations affected by Climate Change or downstream consequences such as wildfires, have begun to address the physical and mental health impacts to fill the gaps in understanding of how our changing planet is altering the conditions for healthy living. Other studies have been conducting pioneering work on a broad array of environmental exposures, some of which may interact with genetics, and how they influence child development.
