Description: The Program Coordinator will work in partnership with the AgrAbility Project and North Carolina Agromedicine Institute faculty to develop and lead collaborative and synergistic research, Extension and academic efforts to identify and address the health and safety risks of farmers, their families and communities. The coordinator will provide leadership for the NC AgrAbility Project including oversight of the federal grant award and supervision of project staff and graduate students. This position is responsible for the development of a strong extramurally-funded research and Extension agenda, centered around a high priority, high impact theme or in a closely related emerging area of interest and need in the field of agricultural occupational and environmental health and safety. The coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and expansion of efforts to fulfill the goals of the NC Agromedicine Institute and AgrAbility project. This position will contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive research based educational programming agenda that meets the needs of limited-resource and socially-disadvantaged, small farmers consistent with the vision, mission, and goals of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The CAES Agricultural Research Program actively engages in research projects that reflect the 1890 land-grant university mission to serve agricultural industries, communities and individuals, with a strong emphasis on research that serves small and limited-resource farms, businesses, rural communities and families in North Carolina. Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T is an educational outreach organization within the CAES. Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. The North Carolina AgrAbility Partnership (NC AgrAbility) is a federally-funded grant program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute for Food Safety (USDA-NIFA). The program consists of a National Project and individually funded state or regional projects. The mission of NC AgrAbility is to educate and assist farmers, ranchers, farmworkers and their family members engaged in production agriculture who are living with disabilities to enable them to stay actively engaged in production agriculture, agriculture-related occupations, and/or daily life. Internal job number: 008591 Requirements: Master's degree required from an accredited university in agriculture, rehabilitation engineering, industrial design, rural sociology, public health, environmental health or some other related fields. Preferred: Earned PhD/EdD in in agriculture, rehabilitation engineering, industrial design, rural sociology, public health, environmental health or some other related fields.
