The Early Learning Director is responsible for all the daily activities, planning, and budget of the program, including the supervision and leadership of staff with the caring and teaching of children. This position will oversee the daily operations of our Infant and Toddler program located at High Point, reporting to the Head of School and Early Childhood Principal. The Preschool Director is in charge of hiring all staff for the High Point location and will supervise approximately 15 teachers. The Preschool Director must be able to work independently at a location separate from our main campus.
The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
Supervise the Infant and Toddler programs, teachers, and students at High Point campus from 7:15am - 6:00pm Monday through Friday 12 months a year
Responsible for designing and maintaining a developmentally appropriate program of quality preschool and childcare in a loving, Christian environment
Plan, organize, direct, manage and supervise programs for preschool-aged children
Implement best practices for children and families
Operations - come in, start program, get it off the ground - a lot of upfront work
Daily staffing and scheduling, resolving issues, and last-minute changes
Coordinate with the Enrollment Management office regarding student entry and movement and transitioning. Send information and letters to parents regarding student transition process.
Meeting needs of multiple constituents - pulled in multiple directions at once
Adhere to all additional procedures related to COVID-19
Oversee the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of new faculty and staff for the preschool program at High Point. Coordinate with HR and Finance office.
Ensure that High Point is in full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and oversee Bright From the Start certification process for that property
Build positive relationships with faculty and parents
Responsible for providing weekly time sheets and any sub pay necessary for High Point program to HR for payroll purposes
Meet with direct reports periodically to provide feedback; develop, track, and deliver annual performance reviews
Develop department goals, objectives, and systems. Implement new policies/procedures and processes as needed
Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary to represent the department
Complete administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and equipment, coordinating maintenance requests, and plan ahead for supply shortages and maintenance issues
Must be ready and willing to jump in and be hands-on when necessary (walking around, checking on classrooms, changing diapers, carrying babies, etc.)
Any additional tasks as requested by the Head of School or Early Childhood Principal
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Early Childhood or related field. Teaching experience working with preschool-aged children required.
Minimum 3-5 years directing a preschool or daycare center required. Experience working within an independent school setting preferred.
