Bergen Community College, the number one institution in New Jersey for associate degree graduates four years in a row, serving a diverse student body on its suburban campus, has a leadership opportunity for a Dean of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. This position plans and develops the instructional objectives for the Division of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. The Dean leads department heads, coordinators and faculty in the development, implementation and evaluation of new and existing curricula; supervises the disciplines of Business, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Criminal Justice, Legal and Related Studies, Social Sciences and Visual and Performing Arts as well as the Director of the Child Development Center. Recruits, evaluates and recommends for reappointment full-time faculty and staff; supervises department chairs and staff; develops and reviews curriculum; develops and manages divisional budgets and scheduling; promotes, supports and advocates assessment activities, grant development, distance learning and the use of technology. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred. Minimum of 7 years of higher education experience including 2 years of administrative experience as a department chair or higher, plus 2 years of college teaching experience; experience teaching in one of the disciplines of the division preferred. Must have demonstrated leadership, excellent communication skills and computer proficiency. Experience in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
