Ascend International School in Mumbai, India (a partner school with UCDS in Seattle, WA) is searching for a new leader in their Preschool-5th grade programs for the position of Lower School Division Head. Ascend is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school with a highly progressive curricular and collaborative team teaching model. Candidates for this position must have five years of program leadership experience as well as classroom teaching experience.
The Lower School Division Head of Ascend International School guides the CEO in formulating the school’s mission and in developing its strategic plan. The Division Head oversees the following:
Direct all aspects of programs at Ascend International School, consistent with the mission statement of the school and with the policies set by the Governing Council and CEO.
Represent the school in all its relations with the faculty, staff, students and parents of the community.
Represent the school in its relations with state and federal agencies and with local, state, regional and national educational organizations and accrediting agencies.
Handle all matters regarding employment, professional development, retention and dismissal of teaching faculty, orientation and training, job assignments and performance evaluations.
Assist CEO in review of faculty goals.
Act as a resource to new teachers to help clarify the Teacher Profile for the purpose of developing effective curricula, teaching strategies and emotionally supportive classrooms.
Work in collaboration with the classroom teachers to promote student learning and social development.
Work in collaboration with the IB Coordinator to ensure program alignment and effective implementation.
Consult with teachers to develop teaching and behavioral strategies for students.
Develop a network of professional contacts within the broader community.
Meet with families to discuss referrals to professionals outside of school.
Establish and participate in the communication amongst families, professionals, parents and faculty.
Oversee programmatic aspects of the school, including special programs, and learning support.
Oversee PYP academic programs and development.
Keeps the Governing Council and CEO informed about any decisions in these areas.
Perform any other duties that are necessary to ensure the smooth running of the school and are consistent with the school’s mission, the policies of the Governing Council and the law.
