The Cathedral School is seeking contract engagement for an independent contractor (1099) to serve as our Lower School Consulting Psychologist. The Consulting Psychologist works with the Head of Lower School and Lower School faculty in support of students’ social/emotional and academic well-being. The Consulting Psychologist also serves as a resource to families.
The role consists of 12.5 hours per week and requires attendance at the school each day from 9:45am – 12:15pm. (Hours may be adjusted at the time of contract engagement if necessary for the consultant.)
Attend daily grade level team meetings with the Head of Lower School, relevant Learning Specialists, and classroom teachers
Offer advice and guidance to school personnel regarding behavioral and emotional supports for students
Summarize and interpret results to the school team and families when students receive neuropsychological or psychoeducational evaluations
Co-lead family chats with the Head of Lower School and Learning Specialists on child development, parenting, and social/emotional topics (3 times per year)
Regularly observe students and classrooms
Communicate with families by phone or in-person meetings when issues arise
Meet regularly with the Head of School and Upper School Psychologist to discuss student concerns and school climate.
