BB&N is seeking Sailing coach for our upper school sailing program. Coaches are expected to collaborate with all team stakeholders (director of athletics, associate director of athletics, other coaches and parents) and will be responsible for all areas of the sailing program.
Practice planning and organization
Coaching and administrative tasks
Teaching skill techniques
Demonstrated commitment to the academic success of the student is essential
Development and support of those student athletes with the ability and desire to sail at the collegiate level
Attendance of all practices, home regattas and travel on the bus to away regattas is required. Additional coaching expectations are to operate within the athletic philosophy of BB&N and within the rules and guidelines of the Independent School League (ISL) and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). A current CPR certification is required.
The season begins on March 9, 2020 and ends on May 21, 2020. The team sails out of the Courageous Sailing Center in Charlestown, MA. BB&N is offering a $8000 stipend for the season.
Work with Assistant Coach to organize and facilitate regular practices and meets.
Ability to operate a coach boat/inflatable motorboat with 25 HP engine
Knowledge of Boating Rules of the Road and basic safety for dinghy sailing
Familiarity with Team and fleet racing
Familiarity with 420 sailboats rigging and boat handling
Liaison with high school sailing leagues (Massachusetts Bay League, NESSA)
M-F 3:30-6:00 with some Saturdays and Sundays
