The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD), College of Health Sciences (CHS) is currently accepting applications for a full-time (11-month), tenure-track faculty position. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and engaging in scholarly activity by maintaining an active research agenda and by seeking extramural funding. Additional duties include advising students and participating in service across the department and college levels. Faculty will also assume an active role in the CHS Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program, a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional Ph.D. program with faculty and students from the disciplines of Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology.
Qualified applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences & Disorders or related area (senior or mid-career professional preferred but will consider junior faculty with established scholarly records), CCC-SLP, and eligibility for Kentucky State Licensure. Rank, tenure status, and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualified applicants in all areas of expertise will be considered, but preference will be given to those with experience in voice, fluency, and/or cleft palate/craniofacial disorders. About the CSD Program
The CSD program has offered undergraduate and master's degrees in communication sciences and disorders for over 50 years. The qualified candidate will join an outstanding academic faculty devoted to teaching, research, clinical practice, and service. Our faculty is comprised of 11 certified and licensed SLPs, one certified and licensed audiologist, and one speech scientist. All faculty are engaged in active clinical practice and research. The UK CSD program is home to two ASHA Honors recipients, eight ASHA Fellows, four state DiCarlo recipients, one national DiCarlo winner, and a past president of ASHA. Our faculty are funded at the state and national levels including funds from NIH and DOE. Our research portfolio is diverse and places a high value on translational and interdisciplinary science. The College of Health Sciences is home to a variety of state-of-the-art research laboratories (wet & dry) and maintains strong collaborative ties with colleagues across campus. The qualified candidate will have access to several significant resources including the College's state-of-the-art teaching and clinical facilities, the UK Voice and Swallow Clinic, the CSD Laryngeal and Speech Dynamics Lab, the UK Child Development Center of the Bluegrass, the UK Human Development Institute, the UK MRISC Neuroimaging Center, the UK's Center for Clinical Translational Sciences, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, a contiguous Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, the College of Dentistry, and the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute.
