The DevTech Research Group, aims to understand how new technologies can play a positive role in children's development and learning. This grant involves a partnership between the DevTech research group and Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) in Virginia, the first state to mandate the teaching of computer science.
The project will accomplish three goals: 1) create a comprehensive, field tested, high quality integrated K-2 computer science (CS) curriculum integrating ScratchJr with math and literacy, and suite of teaching materials and implementation supports that will be free and publicly available; 2) achieve high fidelity implementation in all 32 schools in the district resulting in statistically significant student learning outcomes and teacher's pedagogical and content knowledge to implement the curriculum; and 3) build capacity of leaders, technology coordinators and specialized coaches to replicate and sustain work following the grant period.
The Project Administrator will provide specialized, subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, review and evaluate a university Project in collaboration with Manager or Director. Participates in development of goals and strategies; creates data management and filing systems; develops, analyzes and monitors budgets, grants and contracts; and participates in development and implements marketing and advertising efforts including writing content for website and social media material. May design and represent program externally at conferences, meetings and events. Conducts research and drafts reports and results. May oversee recruitment and management of study subjects. May provide advice and counseling to students. Coordinates hiring and training of staff, students and temporary help.
Knowledge & experience as typically acquired by a Bachelor's degree in related discipline
3+ years of related experience OR Master's degree and 1-2 years related experience
Master's degree in related discipline and 3+ years of experience in related field of study
