The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department within the School of Medicine with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 200 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department’s highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department’s robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Web Computing Specialist.
Position Purpose: It is responsible for overall computer system administration, analysis, design, development, maintenance, webmaster duties, and database administration for each department. In addition, this team is primarily responsible for developing workflow structures to optimally meet business needs. This entails working closely with users, developers, managers and other stakeholders to provide support and training, resolve client and system-related issues, analyze business processes, and determine functional and technical requirements including configuring, installing, and maintaining computing applications. The Web Computing Specialist works directly with other members of the Psychiatry IT Team and all of the many stakeholders in this department. This position analyzes business processes that can be automated, designs, develops and implements SharePoint-based automations of business processes based on process maps and technology, deploys automations to various clients, provides ongoing support for production systems, trains and mentors users on how to use various programs. In addition, this position is responsible for the design, development and day-to-day maintenance of the external pages and functions of multipe departments’ websites and associated sub-sites. This includes the homepage, linked high-level pages, audience pages, research, clinical and academic program websites..
Responsibilities: Development and design of workflow process (analysis, automation, support, etc.) 50%
Serves as the Department’s expert in the automation and support of online workflow processes
Works with the Associate Director of Operations and IT and the Software Engineer to define business, technical and functional requirements
Meets with customers to gather business requirements
Helps define and develop workflows related to business processes needing automation using Nintex
Tracks and executes on multiple projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skillsWebsite and Ongoing Management of Processes
Works collaboratively with the Psychaitry Administrative team to drive changes to improve operational efficiency.
Using strong listening skills with the ability to translate concerns of non-technical users into technical terms to discuss and diagnose customer problems, develop innovative solutions and bring them to fruition in conjunction with other members of the IT team thus resulting in excellent customer experiences and support.
Serves as the department expert in website support and security.Training
Prepares training materials and user guidelines/resources and coordinates training curriculum•
Partners with Psychiatry Administrative Team (Human Resources, Finance, Research and IT) to ensure that course material reflects customer needs•
Tests and evaluates materials to ensure accuracy on an ongoing basis•
Develops and delivers “Train the Trainer” courses
Bachelor's degree in technical field with a strong web development and project management background
Two to three years work related experiences
At least three years of web development experience, with a strong foundation using SharePoint Solutions Nintex, Infopath, JAVA programming.
Development experience that meets technical excellence and the needs of the users; ability to make template updates, build modules and views, and perform UI customizations.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, including team and relationship building
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; exceptional decision-making skills
Self-starter with demonstrated ability to learn/adapt new methods to support this role.
Ability to deliver quality systems and work under constant deadline pressures.
Proven ability to independently prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines
