Overview The Department of Psychology at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2020.
Specific area of interest and expertise within the field of Child Development is open, but individuals with a focus on school-age/adolescent development, child assessment, or parenting are especially encouraged to apply. California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. CSUSB serves approximately 20,000 students, of which 81% are first-generation college students, and graduates about 5,000 students annually. As a designated Hispanic Serving Institution, CSUSB reflects the dynamic diversity of the region and has one of the most diverse student populations of any university in the Inland Empire, and the second highest Hispanic enrollment of all public universities in California. Typical Activities We are seeking a teacher/scholar with proven teaching ability who could offer undergraduate and graduate courses in such areas as Child Assessment, Exceptional Children, Parenting and Family Relations, Psychopathology of Childhood, Middle Childhood and Adolescent Development, and Developmental Research Methods. Candidates must exhibit research potential as evidenced by engaging in publishable research in their area of expertise, and possess the capability to attract and mentor students in their research area. Potential for securing external funding is also a consideration. The University's Institute for Child Development and Family Relations (ICDFR) supports a number of vital research and service initiatives in our local communities that would provide unique opportunities for the successful candidate. These include the Infant-Toddler Success/Parenting Project, the Parental Intervention Program (for justice-involved parents), Quality Start San Bernardino, the Infant-Toddler Lab School, as well as academic and cognitive skills assessment and training for children and adolescents, and a mentorship program for foster and homeless youth. The ideal candidate would have an interest in community engagement and in building relations with community child agencies. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, or a related field is required by time of appointment. Supplemental Information To applyplease submit the following required documents:
