As the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, you will offer clinical insight and classroom support for staff who teach 0-5 year old children in our Northwest Suburbs early childhood centers, and also provides in-home consultations. The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant meets with parents and teachers in Schaumburg, Palatine, and Carpentersville. This is a flexible part-time staff position offering approximately 20 hours per week at an hourly rate of $25/hr.
Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant responsibilities include:
Visit classrooms in our Early Childhood Centers in Schaumburg, Palatine, and Carpentersville to observe teacher-student interactions and assist teachers in meeting the social-emotional needs of students.
Develop individualized intervention plans for assigned students in close collaboration with ECE staff and parents.
Provide on-site training to teachers on social-emotional child development.
Meet with parents at centers and during parent events to provide consultation on their children’s needs and development; may provide group training to parents.
Link parents with external resources as needed.
Maintain documented records of services provided for internal and external data reporting.
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field.
Clinical licensure (LCPC, LCSW, etc.) or eligibility for licensure within 24 months of hire.
Minimum of five years of experience working in a clinical setting with children under the age of 5
Knowledge of early childhood (0-5) development, infant mental health, and trauma-informed practice.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required. Travel includes the city of Chicago as well as the Northwest suburbs.
