Olympic College is recruiting for 4 Classroom Aides (Early Childhood Program Specialist 1) positions to support extended daycare hours 3:00 - 5:30 pm. These positions typically work under direct supervision, performing entry level work following clearly defined work procedures and priorities. Duties include performing classroom work such as recording enrollment; preparing and organizing materials used by children for their projects; and monitoring activities such as nap times, free time, snacks, and lunches.
The Sophia Bremer Child Development Center (SBCDC) is the lab school and early learning center for Olympic College students. All teachers are expected to stay current in Early Childhood Education (ECE) best practices in order to guide practicum students in the daily application of these practices.
Prepare materials and equipment under the direction of a teacher, program manager, or other staff; stores and maintains educational equipment and materials.
Assist with preparation, presentation, and clean-up of projects and activities such as art projects, stories, songs, outdoor activities, and bulletin boards.
Assist in ensuring that children are involved in activities suited to their immediate emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs; provides activity options to children.
Assist in serving and cleaning up after snacks and lunches; assists in child guidance; monitors nap times, free time, field trips, and transition between activities.
Assist with the maintenance of a healthy and safe environment;
Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent.
College course work in Child Development/Early Childhood Education from an accredited College.
One (1) year work experience with children ages 1-5 years old.
Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
ECE State Initial Certificate
Experience with special needs populations
Two+ years of caring for children 12 months – 5 years old in center-based care

Terms of Employment These are on-call, part-time hourly positions scheduled to work no more than 18 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is needed to meet the demands of the department, including working evening hours. The salary for this position is $14.00 hourly.
Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
Obtain and maintain all certifications including: educational requirements as established by state and federal guidelines; CPR/First Aid certificate for infants and children; TB test; updated MMR vaccination or proof of vaccination; Food Handlers card; Blood Borne Pathogens and HIV Training; DEL Portable Background Check; initial and yearly STARS certification.
Provide copies of all mandated certifications and official transcripts within 1 week of hire.
This position requires punctual and regular attendance. There is occasional exposure to blood and other bodily fluids. Occasional evening and weekend training may be required.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position. This position will require the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, reach, set up and clean up after activities, snacks and lunch, and play on the floor with children.
