•Prepares educational materials, and classroom areas including organizing and requesting supplies. •Delivers onsite and outreach museum education programming (includes classroom setup, cleanup and travel), adapting program and materials to meet the needs of specific groups. •Works with others to ensure the overall effectiveness of the Education Department’s programming, contributing to analysis of the effectiveness of current programs and methodologies. •Other duties as assigned.•Possess effective reading, written communications, organizational and interpersonal skills. •Possess effective verbal presentation and public speaking skills, especially to large groups of 30-300. •Possess the ability to establish rapport with students and create an inclusive learning environment. •Possess a positive public service attitude. •Possess knowledge at a college level of some branch of science (chemistry or astronomy preferred) or engineering and knowledge of educational techniques and child development. •Possess broad knowledge of basic science, engineering and math. •Possess skills in basic equipment repair, e.g., soldering, carpentry, electronic troubleshooting and repair •Computer Skills with business software systems in the completion of work assignments (for example, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). •Physical ability to pick up and carry crates (up to 50 pounds) and load/unload and move heavy carts. •Comfortable with driving large cargo vans for distances of up to 4 hours. •Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed. •Ability to travel (including overnight stays in long-distance outreach destinations) when needed. •Acquires knowledge of Hall educational program content and objectives. •Acquires educational programs delivery and management skills. •Acquires analytical skills to work on program or targeted audience needs assessments.
Education/Training: •Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. •Continuing education in related field required We are hiring for 2 people to fill a one year, part-time, 32 hours per week, contract position. This position is eligible for full UC benefits, including vacation & sick leave accrual.
