Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seeks a part-time educator/yoga instructor to teach yoga and mindfulness to children grades 6 - 8 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am for the 2019 - 2020 academic year. Candidates must have demonstrated experience and interest in sharing effective, engaging, and motivating mindful practices with middle school age students.
Among the professional duties of a Falk Yoga Teacher are the following:
Teach daily morning classes to middle school students.
Develop and teach motivating, engaging lessons that are grounded in best practices, and are appropriate to students' ages, grade levels and abilities.
Create modifications and adaptations to support instruction.
Collaborate with team members
Observe, evaluate, and prepare reports on students' progress.
A Bachelor's degree in Education or Child Development or a related field, and two or more years' experience teaching yoga to children/200-Hour Teaching Certificate is required. Master's degree is preferred. Broad experience in a school setting is advantageous as the position involves partnering across disciplines and grade levels.
Offer of employment is contingent on candidate satisfactorily obtaining and passing the following prior to commencement of appointment: Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Also, as required by Act 168 of 2014, candidate must satisfy the requirements stated on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form.
