The Site Manager provides supervision and oversight to education staff at one of Gads Hill Center’s early childhood centers. As the site leader, the Site Manager is accountable for ensuring that licensing, funder and accreditation standards are maintained at all times. The Site Manager observes and monitors classrooms and education documentation and provides support to teachers with classroom management, curriculum and assessment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises, directs, coaches, observes, and evaluates teaching and family support staff at the early childhood center.
Serves as site leader and maintains effective operation of all site programs and physical plant.
Collaborates with Operations Coordinator to ensure that facility issues are reported in a timely manner and resolved.
Ensures that emergency drills including fire drills, severe weather drills and bus evacuation drills, occur at appropriate intervals.
Maintains compliance with DCFS licensing standards, Head Start, Early Head Start, and NAEYC accreditation standards at all times.
Provides consultation and problem solving with teachers as needed for classroom management and curriculum implementation on a daily basis.
Facilitates staff meetings on a monthly basis.
Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with the parents and communities that we serve, including participating in agency outreach and recruitment efforts. Supports parent engagement efforts, including formal parent monthly meetings and small groups.
Program Monitoring and Management
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Head Start standards, Preschool for All and disability requirements and implements them in all aspects of work to maintain compliance.
Ensures and documents the delivery of training and technical assistance according to needs identified in individual professional development plans, performance evaluations, team meetings, and observations.
Collaborates with other CSD leaders to plan and coordinate professional development in-service trainings for Children’s Services staff members.
Develops and maintains a schedule for teachers and classrooms to assure coverage, meeting all program standards.
Participates in and assists with the Head Start/Early Head Start self-assessment.
Represents Early Head Start/Head Start/Preschool for All programs at appropriate monitoring visits and program audits. Assures compliance with Early Head Start/Head Start/Preschool for All and general child development standards.
Collaborates with Education/Disabilities Manager to support the referral process and assist families in advocating for services for their children.
Submits internal and Preschool For All enrollment reports on a monthly basis.
Provides regular written and oral reports on programs as assigned
Participates in meetings of Children’s Services leadership to resolve problems and assist in determining the strategic direction of Children’s Services.
Conducts classroom observations to assist mental health providers and education staff with referrals. Attend regular team meetings with assigned classrooms.
Performs record-keeping and other reporting functions as required by Head Start/Early Head Start Performance and NAEYC Standards and submit all agency reports in a timely manner.
Ensures parent participation in the committee structure of the Head Start/Early Head Start delegate agency and city-wide council.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (average child’s weight).
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all Gads Hill Center employees are responsible for the following:
Participating in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
Participating in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable).
Participating in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
Advancing parent leadership development.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood or a related field required. M.A.Ed. in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Previous managerial and Head Start program experience preferred.
Level 2 Director’s Credential.
Valid City of Chicago and State of Illinois food sanitation certification required.
Experience with multi-cultural programming preferred.
Previous direct early childhood classroom experience with low-income families,
Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills.
Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and willing to travel locally.
Entry Salary Range: $40,000
