The On-Call AssistantTeacher assists in providing an age appropriate child development program and activities by creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children, complying with statutory, regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements, conducting and planning programs and activities that implement an emergent curriculum, and developing and maintaining a relationship with parents that meets the individual child's needs. S/he helps the full time teaching staff in providing an age appropriate child development program and activities by creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children. Reporting to the Director of Hoya Kids Learning Center, the On-Call Assistant Teacher has additional duties that include but are not limited to:
Maintains verbal and written communication concerning each child's daily activities and development.
Communicates concerning behaviors, incidents, progress, and problems.
Plans and prepares materials and supplies for activities.
Conducts or assists with planned activities.
Challenges each child to develop his or her own potential.
Adheres to statutory, regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
Corrects existing or potential deficiencies within the classroom or center.
Demonstrates care and affection for each individual child.
Identifies and takes appropriate actions to eliminate unhealthy and unsafe conditions.
Assists in classroom maintenance, toileting routines, and meal/snack preparation.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Practical experience working with children
Interest in working in an environment with young children
Strong relationship and communication skills
Some college credits in Early Childhood Education (CDA, Associates Degree accepted) are preferred
Computer experience to include email, internet research, word processing, and PowerPoint knowledge desired
CPR and First Aid are desired
