The Center for Early Education and Development, at the University of Minnesota, is hiring a Research Professional 1 position, under the direct supervision of Dr. Ann Bailey. The candidate will assist two Principal Investigators in managing/coordinating and conducting various aspects of research. Various duties may include: Conducting literature reviews; data collection; coding research recordings; creating surveys in MSWord and in Qualtrics, cleaning and analyzing data using MSExcel, SPSS, and NVivo, transcribing audio recordings, and writing and editing reports. The individual in this position must maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times due to sensitivity of data. Limited, in-state travel may be required. The position is for 40 hours per week (100% FTE). Funding for this position is dependent on sponsored research funds.
Data Collection/Entry/Analysis (65%)
Recruitment of research participants.
Entering surveys into Qualtrics, paying close attention to detail and accuracy.
Transcribe audio recordings for analysis.
Maintain databases and accurate data entry.
Under the supervision of the PI, perform data analysis, interpretation, and presentation. Must be able to use MS Excel. SPSS, and/or NVivo are also used and training can be provided.
Write and edit reports and assist with the development of quarterly and annual reports; includes writing and data displays.
Research Literature Reviews, Protocol Development, and Implementation (15%)
Development of surveys and interview/focus group protocols for use.
Conduct in-person or telephone interviews.
Conduct literature reviews on a variety of topics.
Other Responsibilities (20%)
Administrative tasks related to the projects and to CEED.
Communicating with the Principal Investigator (PI) and project managers on a daily to weekly basis to keep updated on the project.
Attend other meetings, as needed.
A bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, child psychology, or a closely related field or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
Ability to apply knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution.
Experience with MSExcel, SPSS, and/or NVivo.
Ability to maintain data confidentiality.
A master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, child psychology, or a closely related field.
At least 2 years of experience in a research center setting related early education.
Experience with report writing.
Ability to work respectfully with diverse communities.
