Teaching: Maintain a safe, student-centered learning environment. Guide whole class, small group, and individualized instruction in reading, writing, word study, mathematics, social studies, science, and social-emotional learning for a class of 2nd-grade students. Regularly monitor and assess student learning and growth to inform instruction using a variety of tools and means.
Curriculum Design: Plan a comprehensive, integrated curriculum that aligns with the school mission and grade-level learning goals. Craft thoughtful, engaging units of study designed to address the different learning styles of students in the class.
Collaboration: Work with grade-level colleagues to ensure integration across subject areas. Consistently and clearly communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding student progress and any student issues.
Attend and contribute to regular weekly faculty meetings.
Collaboratively plan, organize, and conduct relevant field trips.
Supervise weekly recess duty
Attend and assist with assemblies and special events, some of which occur outside of normal school hours.
Actively participate in all in-service and orientation days.
Teaching credential or Master’s degree preferred
Experience and training in Writers' Workshop and/or Project Based Learning is desirable

Sea Crest is a K-8 co-educational independent day school enrolling 280 students from the San Mateo County coastal and inland communities. Average class size is 16 students. The curriculum is challenging and creative, providing in-depth units of study. Pupils have the advantage of daily physical education, as well as enrichment classes in Spanish, art, drama, music, and technology integrated into the weekly schedule.
