The Child Development Center is the Kent State University laboratory school. We are an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program World School and a 5-Star Step Up to Quality school, as designated by the state of Ohio. Associate teachers assist in the development, implementation, documentation and assessment of learning within a play-based, inquiry-oriented curriculum. Outdoor education is an important component of our curriculum. Teachers collaborate to build partnerships with families and mentor pre-service early childhood students assigned to their classrooms.

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field with successful early childhood teaching experience. Ohio early childhood licensure and supervisory experience highly desirable.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
Part time teacher in a preschool classroom for the 2019-2020 academic year (34 weeks, 20-25 hours a week, AM & PM positions).
Morning position (Associate Teacher; hours range between 8:00am-1:30pm)
Afternoon position (Associate Teacher – Closer; hours approx. 1:00pm-6:00pm)
The school follows the KSU calendar. Summer employment opportunities also available.
