The Early Learning Center at Fay School (ELC) seeks an experienced, dynamic, and flexible early childhood educator to coordinate a high-quality program that engages children ages 2 years nine months through 5 years in developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that meet the children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical needs. The Assistant Director oversees a team of Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Teachers’ Aides. This position reports to the Director of the Early Learning Center. This is a maternity leave position and is not eligible for benefits.
Coordinating the implementation of educational programs and activities
Overseeing classroom operations
Providing various forms of classroom support, including teaching
Assisting with parent conferences
Conducting child observations and developmental assessments
Supervising the preparation of lesson plans
Reviewing reports, portfolios, and conferences with parents
Maintaining strong partnerships with families
Providing support in the preparation and maintenance of the classroom environment
Assuring that all classrooms provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of classroom and supervisory experience in an early childhood program, as well as experience implementing curricula and educational activities that foster inquiry, problem solving and discovery learning. A bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working in a shared and cooperative environment.
