Lower School - Kindergarten Classroom Faculty Seattle, WA
Full Time (1.0 FTE) 2019-2020 Academic School Year
Salary scale based upon experience

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Lower School team to teach Kindergarten. We are seeking a candidate who will support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency.
While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and duties listed below:
Create and sustain classroom culture based on mission and values of the school
Design, prepare and deliver instructional activities that emphasize experiential learning experiences
Differentiate instructional resources/methods to meet students’ varying needs
Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and in the curriculum
Collaborate with school counselor to establish and maintain social emotional learning and wellness for all students
Work closely with learning coordinator to support varying learning styles and needs in the classroom
Establish positive classroom expectations with a responsive behavior management style creating a safe and comfortable environment for all students
Create and sustain effective parent/guardian partnerships
Coordinate families to engage and volunteer within the classroom
Observe/evaluate/assess students’ development and maintain accurate records on progress, to include drafting detailed and thoughtful report cards
Communicate effectively with students’ families around student progress and classroom news
Routinely plan and prepare outside the scheduled school day
Manage a classroom budget
Participate positively in meetings, activities/committees such as community events and school admissions
Collaborate and work effectively in teams with colleagues
Proactively participate in professional learning opportunities at The Bush School and in the larger community
Participate in school admissions activities, as kindergarten is a main point of entry for students
Attend school related events outside the scheduled school day
Keep up-to-date with child development, teaching resources and instructional methods in order to make relevant changes to teaching practices
Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned
Experience in teaching – a minimum of 3-5 years is preferred
A bachelor’s degree is required
Strong Literacy and Math skills
A graduate degree is preferred
Teacher certification is preferred

Communicate effectively and timely (verbally and in writing) with others, including administrators, colleagues, staff and families in order to maintain constructive and professional relationships
Complete work in a timely and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments and deadlines
Be skilled in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite
Be patient and positive and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learning and in working with children
