Lower School Assistant Teacher (End of August 2019 - January 2020)
Dedham Country Day School (DCD) seeks a well-qualified, Lower School Assistant Teacher (80%) to join the robust faculty in our Pre-Kindergarten to grade 8 community from the end of August through January 2020. Ideal hours include Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Lower School teachers with academic classes and the creation of Lower School class curriculum
Promote and support each child’s physical, social, emotional and academic growth
Help teachers maintain classroom library, bulletin boards and instructional materials
Serve as a full member of the DCD community participating in lunch and recess duties, and when available, joining in afternoon faculty meetings
Strong candidates will have:
A bachelor degree in education, psychology or child development with a master’s degree in education preferred
3 or more years experience working with elementary school-aged children
Knowledge of developmental needs for elementary school children
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in all activities and responsibilities, with an eagerness to work collaboratively on a team
Strong belief in a child-centered and developmentally-appropriate environment
An ability to integrate academic technology into the classroom experience
Experience building an inclusive environment and an awareness of anti-bias teaching practices
