Essential Job Duties:
This position provides leadership to the 4-H Afterschool Program and will assist in program support for other 4-H programs including, but not limited to, 4-H School Enrichment Programs and 4-H Summer Programs in Ashe County.
Funding for this position is fully dependent on fees collected and grants received.
The 4-H Afterschool Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
Develop a team of professionals to deliver quality programming to school age youth to include supervision and training of program staff
Oversees daily operations of school age programs (4 Afterschool programs and one summer program)
Must ensure 4-H Afterschool policies are followed at each site and sites are prepared for annual monitoring visits
Must ensure day care license regulations and policies are followed at each site and sites are prepared for SACERS evaluation process every three years
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
Effectively communicate with families and conduct family nights (2 per year)
Build positive relationships with staff, schools, community and partners
Meet with school administration at least three times per year
Facilitate weekly staff meetings at each site
Attend meetings (regional and state)
Recruit and promote programs to increase enrollment at each site
Responsible for overall quality of program
Establish schedule and monitor activities
Establish rules and procedures for the program
Follow and implement program policies as specified in staff manual
Update program materials as needed
Ensure all records and files are up to date at each site: oParticipant files oPersonal Plans of Success oStaff/volunteers/substitute files oDaily attendance record
Conduct advisory committee meetings
Maintain Day Care Standards on site and ensure: oForms are posted oAll inspections up to date oNecessary drills are performed (fire, tornado, lock down) oBoard with schedule and activities posted oAll cleanser and/or hazardous materials locked while children are in attendance (in every room children utilize) oRolls and sign in/out sheets are up to date oEnsure snack menu is updated appropriately
As needed, maintain staff/child ratio
Conduct formal staff evaluations (once annually)
4-H Afterschool Coordinator will be evaluated by County Extension Director a minimum of once per year and will receive on going verbal feedback on performance
Responsible for participant, parent and teacher evaluation process
Conduct other duties as requested by County Extension Director
Assist with planning and implementing the summer program
Complete, in a timely manner, accurately, all required paperwork and/or reports
The minimum requirement for employment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service (NCCES) is a high-school diploma or equivalent. Advanced training in related fields is preferred.
Must be 21 years of age or older
A two year degree minimum or equivalent in an area related to child/youth development or other school age programming
Computer skills required (Excel, Word, Publisher, Outlook Express, etc.)
Experience working with school age youth preferred A working knowledge of the North Carolina Department of Child Development Licenses, Policies and Procedures preferred Possess an appropriate Vehicle Operator's License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles Must have or obtain First Aid & CPR Certification and Basic School Age Care (BSAC) Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form Experience planning and directing the work of others, preferred Must have 10 hours of orientation within the first 30 days Must have up-to-date personnel file to include but not limited to: oApplication for employment oResume oOriginal transcripts oPhysician's statement first year and Health Documentation yearly thereafter to include results of a TB test signed by an appropriate medical staff (every three years) oDocumentation of First Aid and CPR oDocumentation of orientation oCalendar training and training slips oSuccessful completion of a criminal background check oSuccessful completion of a criminal background check from the North Carolina Department of Child Development oSuccessful completion of a drug test
