Portledge School is accepting applications for a Director of Athletics. This individual reports to the Head of School and are responsible for the following areas:
Oversee the 5-12th-grade athletics programs
Supervise Athletic Department staff; including Assistant Athletic Directors, Athletic Trainer, and Head Coaches
Ensure proper staffing for all programs and events
Ensure Athletic Department employees have trained appropriately; ie: concussion, heat, First Aid, CPR, AED
Work with the development office to develop the Athletic Hall of Fame and all other aspects of the Strategic Plan
Work collaboratively with other Athletic Department Employees and make clear roles and responsibilities.
Communication of all athletic events to all constituencies
Schedule and prepare the annual calendar of athletic practices and interscholastic games
Preparation of facilities for practices and games
Manage department budget
Hire coaches and support staff
Represent Portledge at league meetings and conferences.
Create a positive environment for all engaged with athletics at the School.

BA Degree minimum, MA preferred
Candidates with school administration experience preferred, ideally in the areas of Athletics
Strong ability to communicate with multiple constituencies, both in writing and in speech, and have comfort working in a collaborative setting.
Organization and attention to detail/ as well as an ability to work within the big picture of the school, are of the utmost importance in this role
Ability to manage a fast-paced work environment
