Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating individual and group child life services provided to patients through Helen DeVos Children's Hospital (HDVCH) in a manner which promotes age appropriate growth and development. Provides diversional and therapeutic play activities and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to provide an integrated approach.
An ideal candidate for this role would have 2+ years of experience working as a Certified Child Life Specialist in a specialty clinic and/or PICU. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to promote positive coping and psychosocial wellbeing through procedural support, distraction, and developmentally appropriate teaching. This role collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to provide individualized care plans, promotes family centered care, plans special events thought the year, and engages with community partners and donors.
Education - Bachelor's Degree in child life, child development, child psychology, early childhood education, recreational therapy or related degree Experience - Completion of a 480-hour Child Life Internship Licenses - Currently eligible for Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) according to Child Life Council standards Basic Life Support (BLS) Note used for BLS,CPR & BCLS) 90 Days
