TCS of Westport is seeking a dynamic and experienced early childhood leader who will build upon and enhance our thriving, NAEYC accredited preschool program. Located 50 miles outside of New York City, TCS is an engaging and inclusive synagogue comprised of approximately 430 families. We are seeking a hands-on, nurturing leader to engage our community of students and their families, while embodying the values and mission of our congregation.
The preschool at TCS nurtures the physical, cognitive, social/emotional and spiritual development of young children in a stimulating and developmentally appropriate environment. The goal of our program is to encourage children to become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We use the cycles of the Jewish year along with the Connecticut Early Learning Developments Standards to guide our play-based, Reggio inspired curriculum. The Preschool Director will oversee the development, implementation, and continued enhancement of the preschool curriculum and work to create a professional, social, and learning environment in alignment with best practices and Jewish educational trends.
Directly manage each of our programs to execute a progressive, developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum
Ensure the curriculum supports the educational and religious philosophy of the preschool and the synagogue, as well as state benchmarking guidelines
Engage and interact with the children, building a warm relationship and understanding of individual needs
Provide active leadership, supervision, and professional development of our teaching and administrative staff
Manage the recruitment and registration process of the school
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with preschool families by providing ongoing communication and addressing individual needs
Facilitate young family engagement and synergy within the larger TCS community
Collaborate with the members of the clergy and synagogue leadership
Manage the budget for the preschool program
Administer and teach our Onederplay program, a program for one year olds and their caregivers
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development
Meets NAEYC requirements for Operational and Pedagogical Administrator
Experience with Judaic curriculum and Jewish traditions and values
5+ years of experience teaching in a preschool classroom
Strong leadership and management skills
