The Essex Children's Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (CMRSS) is currently seeking a Senior Habilitation Counselor to provide assessments that meet quality and quantity standards within UBHC and the Division of Child Behavioral Health Services (DCBHS). Performs functions in support of the UBHC mission providing streamlined, prompt, and consumer-friendly crisis response services.
Receives telephone requests for service, undertakes crisis assessments of the service needs of the client or customer, responds by outreach to the family.
Assesses the youth and family strengths and current crisis situation, makes appropriate referrals for time-limited stabilization services.
Monitors effectiveness of services and makes linkages for aftercare.
Completes appropriate documentation for crisis assessment/crisis plan and utilization review.
Per feedback, contributes to the efficiency and productivity of CMRSS program operations.
Maintains cooperative work relationships within unit and with other unit staff.
Maintains own professional development as a Senior Habilitation Counselor.
Meets all annual requirements, such as, educational requirements and licenses/certifications.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health or related human services field and two (2) years of related experience; or a Master’s Degree in a behavioral health or human services field and one (1) year related experience.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Must have Crisis Assessment Tool (CAT) Certification or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Must have Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) Certification or obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and applying relevant crisis stabilization approaches for children, adolescents, and their families.
Valid driver's license for use in outreaches to homes and community settings in Essex County.
Must be available for on-call services.
Must have the ability to respond to a family crisis in Essex County within one (1) hour when on-call.
