The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center invite you to join the faculty of a nationally ranked School of Nursing and The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only public comprehensive cancer center for the State and the people of North Carolina. This jointly funded initiative is made possible by UNC’s University Cancer Research Fund, established by the North Carolina General Assembly to advance cancer research in North Carolina. A major purpose of the Fund is to promote research across the broad continuum of cancer prevention and control by recruiting outstanding faculty to enhance and expand UNC-Chapel Hill's excellence in these areas. UNC-Chapel Hill, the oldest and one of the best public universities, is a research-intensive university with both health sciences and academic disciplines on one campus. A large dynamic hospital system and relationships with clinical sites across the state provide extensive opportunities for cancer research, teaching, and practice. The climate for interdisciplinary and health research collaborations is exceptional. Moreover, the geographic and demographic diversity, academic and cultural resources, and sheer beauty of North Carolina allow one to pursue both scholarly and personal life goals.
The School of Nursing offers top-ranked baccalaureate, masters, doctoral and post-doctoral programs, including the Hillman Scholars Program, and houses a state-of-the-art Biobehavioral Laboratory, Education-Innovation-Simulation-Learning-Environment program, and Office of Research Support and Consultation. The School offers NIH-funded pre- and post-doctoral fellowships in “Interventions for Preventing and Managing Chronic Illness”.
The Lineberger Cancer Center is one of 49 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, ranked exceptional by NCI, with two Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) in Breast and in GI cancers. Conducts interdisciplinary cancer research through nine programs: cancer cell biology, immunology, molecular therapeutics, virology, cancer genetics, clinical research, breast cancer, cancer prevention and control, and cancer epidemiology with more than 300 researchers from more than 40 departments across campus.
