The University of Minnesota Child Development Center at the University of Minnesota has a Senior Food Service Worker position open for a qualified individual to provide prep for hot and cold food products, cart prep and delivery, and customer service to the children enrolled here at UMCDC.

Prep of Hot and Cold Food Products (35%)
Occasionally prepares breakfast (less than 10% of the time), if working the morning shift.
Preparation of lunch is as needed.
Prepares snack (more than 80% of the time).
In the Cook’s absence, prepares all meals.
Licensing and USDA Compliance (30%)
Follows established food-handling procedures to maintain MN Department of Human Services (DHS) Licensing and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) compliance.
Ensures compliance with USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal component standards as well as accommodating children with special dietary needs.
Maintains clean and sanitary condition in work area (i.g., cleans work surfaces, wipes up spills).
Follows established safety procedures.
Cart Preparation and Delivery (25%)
Assembles and portions food items for tray/meal service.
Pushes tray carts to and from assigned areas.
Unloads meal carts and handles dishes: cleans and sanitizes tray-ware, utensils, dishes, etc.
Customer Service (5%)
Responds to Bungalow classroom requests to deliver additional food components in an efficient and professional manner.
Respectfully engages with and responds to children’s questions.
Answers parent questions.
Communication and Miscellaneous Duties (5%)
Puts away supplies as orders are delivered.
Communicates shortages in food and/or supplies within adequate time for restocking prior to meal period.
Observes and communicates to supervisors temperature variations not up to required standards.
Reports breakdown of equipment to supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
High School graduate or GED
At least 6 months of relevant experience or education in quantity food production
Possesses safe knife and handling skills
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to accurately perform simple mathematic calculations
Read, write, understand and communicate in English
Must be able to stand up for 4 hours at a time
Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP procedures, and health department regulations
Sodexo Food and Physical Safety regulations
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with people with diverse backgrounds
