Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing direct data and/or clinical research in support of clinical trials, studies and general research under direct supervision. Works with School of Medicine and Medical Center staff and departments, including Directors, Managers, Clinical Information Systems, Research Nursing and Regulatory Services; may also interfaces with patients and their families.
Enrollment duties – RDAs will track new prenatal patients using the medical record system at Bellevue Hospital and approach eligible subjects in the first trimester of pregnancy. They will screen for eligibility in person and consent mothers into the study. RDAs will follow up with enrolled subjects to perform several assessments prior to the child’s birth. Once delivered, RAs will follow up with mother and baby who were previously enrolled and consent them to conduct questionnaires and in-person assessments at the various time points stated below.
Assessment duties – RDAs will follow all study subjects and perform follow-up assessments at different time points (from pregnancy to 5 years old). They will arrange assessments when it is most convenient for the mother, including nights and weekends, by phone and in-person; therefore, flexible working hours are required. RDAs will perform anthropometric measurements including height, weight, waist circumference, body fat percentage and blood pressure on the child and mother at the 36, 48 and 60 month assessment. RDAs will work closely with collaborators in the outpatient clinic and CTSI to schedule visits and arrange urine collection.
Data duties – RDAs will enter all assessment data into Qualtrics and RedCap. RDAs will assist with data cleaning and data management. RDAs will implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects. RDAs may assist the PIs with data analysis using SPSS, interpreting data and writing scholarly reports whenever possible.
Medical chart review duties – RDAs will complete medical chart review at each assessment time point in order to collect baby weights/lengths and any applicable medical information. This includes using the medical record system at Bellevue Hospital and requesting medical charts from other institutions where families may have transferred. RDAs will enter all medical chart review data into the main study database.
IRB duties – RDAs will assist the project coordinator with the preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials including amendments, updates and renewals.
Program duties – RDAs will schedule well child care appointments for intervention participants. RDAs will assist nutritionists with the organization of lunchtime family groups by helping with set up, clean up, and general classroom management. RDAs will be required to be active with children at all times. Children’s activities may include: playing, reading, promote physical activities and healthy eating. Additional program duties are to assist the program coordinator with grant administration, program reports and presentations.
General office duties – RDAs will assist the project coordinator with day to day project activities including maintaining inventory and purchasing supplies.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have an Associates degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills. Fluency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is a requirement. Flexible working hours, including weeknights and weekends. Comfortable working with people and in sensitive situations.
BA or BS in Public Health, Nutrition, Child Development or related field.
Prior experience in a health care settings and/or research level interviews.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
